Candidate for Trustee, Village of Dane
I have served as a Trustee on the Dane Village Board since 2018.
Why are you running for office?
I am running because I would like to continue to participate and be involved in maintaining the identity and small town values that both myself and fellow residents adore, while realizing the enormous potential to grow our community.
What do you bring to the table?
I bring a relentless curiosity and quest for knowledge to the table. I have learned quite a bit in my first two years on the board, but there is always something new to learn when it comes to the world of local government. I enjoy the process of researching opportunities & challenges, brainstorming, thinking critically, and ultimately solving problems.
What do you feel is the role of local government?
To provide services to improve the quality of life for our residents (public safety, parks, maintain streets, set/uphold standards through planning and zoning, etc.) while being mindful of the impact to the village portion of the tax bill.
What are your top three priorities or goals?
My top three priorities are to:
- Raise awareness/visibility of the development opportunities that lie within Dane.
- Continue making upgrades to our parks to make them a destination for all ages.
- Pursue grants related to energy efficiency for village equipment and facilities
What, if any, do you feel are obstacles to those goals?
I think the biggest obstacle to raising awareness of development opportunities is getting Dane “on the map”. Leveraging our parks to attract people to the area for events or leagues will help prospective developers/business owners to see the potential, while also providing a boost to our current businesses.
