The recycling drop-off site located at 249 Water Street is permanently closing May 1, 2024. Environmental concerns consisting of recycling debris blowing into Spring Creek prompted the closure of the drop-off site. The multitude of non-recyclable materials found within the recycling containers also played a role in the decision.
Individuals who use the drop-off site can take large quantities of recycling to Columbia County Solid Waste, the City’s garbage and recycling provider. Columbia County Solid Waste accepts recycling at their facility at no additional charge. Alternatively, for an additional fee, residences and small businesses whose garbage and recycling is collected by the City’s provider can contact them to obtain another recycling cart.
