An Open Letter from the Mayor

We are all aware of the construction happening on Hwy 113 from the Four Corners north to roughly Alkar. The infrastructure (water and sewer) under the road is 60 or more years old, and for many sections we weren’t sure where the lines were located. We were hoping to do most of the work underground, but for many reasons, the project has required tearing up the roadbed in several areas.

Our city staff, construction crews and Lodi Police officers have taken a tremendous about of abuse and have been put in danger by drivers insisting on driving through where there are road closed signs. The best way to get the project completed as quickly and safely as possible is for all of us to work together and do the following:

• Add an extra 5 or 10 minutes to your drive time and pay attention to signs! The closure signs and routes will change often, sometimes more than once a day. We will post updates on social media and our website weekly, but there is a lot of unpredictability about this, and we’re needing to adjust traffic patterns as they open and complete sections of the road.

• If you drive through a section that is closed and you are not stopping at a business or residence, you will get pulled over and receive a ticket. Period.

• Most businesses can be accessed from the north. Fair Street and Industrial Drive are the two detours to get to Hwy. 113 on the north side of the city. Large vehicles and Tractor trailer trucks should use STH 60, Lindsey Rd to CTH J.

• The construction is also resulting in traffic congestion in the city as people are taking alternate routes. Please be patient and factor in some extra time to get where you need to be.

• Finally, please be kind! Those working on the project, keeping our city running, and our officers in Lodi deserve your respect and to be able to work safely and without abuse from drivers.

We are committed to keeping the road open to get to our local business, and if there is ever a time to support these businesses it is now. We anticipate the construction will be completed by Thanksgiving.

Our community is better than the behavior displayed the last few weeks. Please show what a great place this is to live and work by being respectful and patient.
