The Lodi Public Library kicked off its 2021 Summer Program today with a decidedly active activity: A climbing wall.
Brad Werntz and his son, John-Pio Naputi-Werntz, from Boulders Climbing Gym in Madison brought out a 20-foot climbing wall and spent the morning getting kids into harnesses and letting them climb.
The wall has a set of automatic belays that operate similar to the spring on your seatbelt. If a climber loses their grip–or lets go–they are gently lowered to the ground. Even the summer heat couldn’t keep the kids from reaching the top.
