Starting Monday, November 16, the Lodi Public Library will once again close its doors to in-person browsing and offer only curbside pickup service. Library leadership made this decision in response to the recent surge in COVID-19 infections in Wisconsin.
To pick up and return items, patrons should call the library at 592-4130, either from the library’s parking lot, or from home just before leaving for the library. Library staff will check out items and deliver them to the trunk of the patron’s vehicle, and retrieve any items to be returned to the library. The library’s 24 hour dropboxes, located just inside the main entrance, will also be open for returns. Library hours will remain the same, Monday 9am to 7pm, Tuesday through Friday 9am to 6pm, and Saturday 9am to 1pm.
Patrons who are unsure what they would like to check out can always call the library, or send library staff an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Staff would be happy to fill specific requests, (e.g., The Splendid and the Vile by Erik Larson, the latest issue of Magnolia Journal, etc.) or browse for materials you’re interested in (e.g. picture books, DVDs, large print fiction, etc.)
Patrons who need to use a computer, or who need to print, copy, or fax documents, can make a reservation for these services. The library will offer 30 minute time slots between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These slots can be reserved by calling the library at 592-4130. Only one patron will be allowed in the library during the reserved time. Additionally, patrons have the option to email documents to email@example.com for library staff to print. Staff will deliver the documents via the curbside pickup procedure.
With COVID-19 surging in Wisconsin and around the nation, we believe this is the safest way for us to continue serving the community. As with all the changes we’ve made, we will evaluate how things are going, listen to community feedback, and keep an eye on health trends.
The Lodi Public Library was founded in 1901 by the Lodi Woman’s Club, allowing the entire community to benefit from the club’s growing collection of resources. The Lodi Woman’s Club Public Library mission is to be a vital partner in our broad communities’ quality of life and commitment to lifelong learning by providing free, non-discriminatory access to diverse information, materials, services, and programs.
