Thursday, Governor Tony Evers directed the Wisconsin Department of Health Services to close all K-12 schools in the state under the authority of Wis. Stat. § 252.02(3). Lodi Schools have been prompt and clear in their response to the on-going situation.

Incoming District Administrator (and current LHS principal) Vince Breunig added some insight regarding the issue of child care.
This issue of childcare is what makes shutting down a prek-12 district so difficult. We understand that when a school district cancels classes it has a domino effect with parents and childcare, especially at the primary and elementary school levels. It puts parents in a very difficult situation,. In this instance, even more difficult, as places parents rely on for childcare may also be closing for the same reason as the school district is closed. It puts a lot of pressure on parents and their support networks when something like this happens.
The Chronicle has reached out to area churches and charities to build a list of resources for those who may need assistance.

To Parents/Guardians and Staff of the School District of Lodi:
First and foremost, thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding as we have tried to address the issue of health and safety during this unprecedented and fast changing situation.
With the Governor’s decision to close schools effective at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 the School District of Lodi will be implementing the following schedule and plan to address that mandate.
Monday, March 16, 2020 – School will be in session as a normal day.
We will be starting a process of ensuring that each K-12 student has, or is issued, an individual learning device (I-Pad or Chromebook). If a student/family does not have home Wi Fi access we will equip their device with hotspot capability to ensure all of our students have equitable online access. On Monday staff and students will begin to experiment with online learning elements and if there are any questions or concerns we can respond as needed. An alternative plan for 4K programming and instruction, during the extended school closure period, will be finalized and communicated to 4K parents on Monday or Tuesday.
Tuesday, March 17, 2020 – School will be in session as a normal day
At the end of the day on Tuesday, students will need to take their district issued device and any other personal items they wish to have available to them during the mandated school closure period home with them. Access to school buildings will be limited to school staff and scheduled community events of less than 50 people starting on Wednesday, March 16th. Day Care services provided in the Lodi Elementary/OSC and Lodi Primary School buildings will also be open and available to parents on Monday and Tuesday. Starting on Wednesday, March 18th both of these day care facilities will be closed for the same mandated period as our school closure, March 18th through April 5th.
Wednesday, March 18, 2020 – School will not be in session for students
All staff (teachers and support staff) will report to work and be engaged with staff development and collaborative planning for online learning, which will begin after spring break – March 30 – April 3, 2020.
Thursday March 19, 2020 through Sunday, April 5, 2020 – Schools will be closed, per the directive of Governor Evers.
Administration will be monitoring the current expectation that school would resume as normal on Monday, April 6th. Any change to that expected school start date will be determined and communicated to staff and parents during the week of March 30- April 3, 2020.
Discussion will continue Monday through Wednesday as we plan for and address other issues related to this school closure situation.
