The Dane-Vienna fire district will be taking receipt of two new trucks to replace three older vehicles which no longer meet NFPA 1901 standards. The new trucks will be on display Saturday, November 16th from noon to 2:00pm for the “Cake in the Bay” open house.
The two new trucks are Engine 8, a Pierce Enforcer pumper/rescue, and Tender 3, a Pierce-customized Freightliner designed to haul water. The new trucks will be equipped similarly to the ones being retired, but will meet current standards for equipment and safety. These standards, published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), were last updated in 2016. Some of the new requirements include upgraded safety equipment, greater stability, changes to visibility markings, and the inclusion of vehicle data recorders.
